We continue to gain yardage as we move the ball down the field. We want to thank everyone who has assisted with the campaign and/or made a pledge to help us get into the END ZONE! Speaking of END ZONE….congratulations goes out to Lakeshore District for being the first to bust out of the Red Zone into the END ZONE for a TOUCHDOWN. Well done Team Lakeshore! We have a few others who have made it to the Red Zone and need just a few more plays to score a TOUCHDOWN while a few other teams need some big plays!

How can you help? First, you can make a gift to your respective Team Campaign if you have not yet done so. If you have already made a gift please consider increasing your gift if you’re able, or ask your company about a matching gift or visit our website at http://www1.matchinggifts.com/scouting to check. Finally, consider asking someone to support our organization with a financial gift. They can do so by contacting Kristin.Ely-Blumke@scouting.org on our development staff or visiting http://www.baylakesbsa.org/invest-in-scouting/friends-of-scouting and clicking on the Donate Online Here button.

Porior named Finalist in NESA World Explorer Program

Oshkosh Eagle Scout, Zachary Porior, recently submitted an application for the NESA World Explorer Program.  The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) offers special projects to place Eagle Scouts on research expeditions throughout the world.

Zachary says “he’s always been passionate about science and am currently pursuing a microbiology degree and chemistry minor at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse.  NESA’s Eagle Scout Galapagos Biologist Expedition presented itself as an exciting opportunity to conduct field and laboratory research contribute to the health of a unique ecosystem while gaining practical experience toward my career goal of researching microbes and their effects on infectious diseases and epidemics.”

He submitted an application and essay about his desire to become a scientist.   When selected as a finalist, he was tasked to create a five minute video explaining why he was the ideal candidate for the program.   Getting to the level of finalist is quite an accomplishment given the level of responses and the quality of applicant credentials.  While not awarded the position, he learned much about preparing for a professional opportunity and honing his resume.

“I look forward to the opportunity to apply for additional opportunities through NESA and to continue my Eagle Charge to impact the community positively,” reflected Zachary.
