National Summertime Pack Award

A Pack can qualify for the National Summertime Pack Award certificate and ribbon by planning and conducting three pack activities – one each in June, July and August. This award can be an incentive for greater attendance at your summer Pack activities. Qualifying Packs receive a colorful streamer for their pack flag. Dens with an average attendance of at least half of their members at the three summer Pack events will be eligible for a colorful den participation ribbon. Boys who participate in all three pack events are eligible to receive the National Summertime Pack Award pin, which can be worn on the right pocket flap of their field uniform. The purpose of the National Summertime Pack Award is to encourage Packs to provide a year-round program by continuing to meet during the time periods when school is out of session for several weeks or months. An application for the National Summertime Pack Award may be downloaded from the Cub Scout forms page from the Scouting.Org website.

Finance News

2015 Friends of Scouting Campaign

The 2015 Friends of Scouting campaign is in the 4th Quarter with just 17 yards to go, or $98,000, to make it into the END ZONE that will score a TOUCHDOWN for the Scouts in the Bay-Lakes Area Council. Glancing at the field above, you can see where your team stands towards the END ZONE. These dollars help provide program support to the 16,000 plus youth members in our Council. It cost approximately $183.00 per year to support one Scout. The support comes in many forms including new program equipment at camp like BB guns, rifles, kayaks, paddle boards, tents, etc., campership support to Scouts whose family can’t afford the entire cost, training for both youth and adult leaders including Youth Protection Training, Center for Scouting support, and volunteer and professional support to numerous activities and events like Mon & Son, Dad & Lad, Camporees, etc.

If you would like to make a gift please contact the Center for Scouting and speak to Nikki Woolf, contact your local District Executive, or for convenience visit our website at http://www.baylakesbsa.org/FOS and click on the “Donate Online Here!” link.

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions or volunteer hours made by their employees. To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, please visit our link at  http://www1.matchinggifts.com/scouting. If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest. The impact of your gift to the Boy Scouts of America & the Bay-Lakes Council may be doubled or possibly tripled! Some companies match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.

Thank you for your support in helping us to instill in young people, lifetime values, leadership skills and ethical character as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law. In other words, help us to prepare youth today for tomorrow!

Bay-Lakes Council Packer Tailgate…..No Rain Delay on This Day

On Saturday, May 30th over 350 “Friends of Scouting” donors and their families gathered at Camp Rokilio, despite the pouring down rain, to participate in the first ever Bay-Lakes Council Packer Tailgate event.

Participants received a limited addition Wilson NFL football signed by Ahman Green and a photo opportunity with backup quarterback Scott Tolzien as well as an autographed picture of Scott. Following the photo and signing, everyone got to enjoy a tailgate lunch provided by the Order of the Arrow. In addition, participants got to tour the unique theme buildings at camp, check out the bog, and shoot BB guns and archery. A great day was had all including the dodging of large mud puddles!

We would like to thank everyone for their kind and supportive donations that will allow us to continue to improve our camps, develop young people, add and improve programming so that were relevant to you our customer, and reach out to more families so that they can EXPERIENCE Scouting!

Imagine 2024 Update

Pictured is the new Dining Hall roof at Camp Rokilio. Going forward, as part of the new branding process, building roofs will be replaced with green metal roofs that require less maintenance and offer longer lifespans. In this case it has a 65 year lifespan. In addition, we have insulated the roof and increased the ventilation to make the building more comfortable during the summertime. Finally, we have painted the front of the dining hall with the new paint scheme that was developed with input from volunteers. The dark brown that you see on the trim is the original color that will soon be replace with an earth tone color.
